The SKY Peace School is an online educational initiative designed to cultivate active peacebuilders and promote a deeper understanding of peace among diverse individuals. Each year, 25 participants are carefully selected from a pool of applicants by peace experts, ensuring representation across various backgrounds, including local and immigrant communities, professional sectors, and genders. Despite their differences, all participants share a common commitment to becoming proactive agents of peace within their environments.
The program spans 12 weeks and is conducted in English, structured around three core modules: Researching Peace, Peacebuilding, and Doing Peace. These modules are led by distinguished instructors from various universities, peace institutes, and activist circles. Through a combination of expert-led lectures, curated reading materials, interactive workshops, and active participant engagement, the school provides a comprehensive and dynamic learning experience.
The primary objectives of the SKY Peace School are to equip peace-oriented individuals with the theoretical and practical tools to understand and promote peace, while fostering a natural network of like-minded participants who can collaborate on peace-related efforts in the future. These efforts aim to contribute meaningfully to building more peaceful individuals, communities, and societies both in Finland and globally.
